Advertising Anticipated on Google Maps
This is not common for Google to use Ads on their beta programs, but do you remember the million dollar home page ? Google have more pixels to advertise on them, and specially since the adoption of Google Maps was very large for the satellite image that its offering, this will be considered as a great map to advertise on it. The ads will appear as clickable small icons, when the user click it will reveal ogos and pictures of the business in question.
This service will be opened at first place on maps covering the U.S., Canada and the U.K, and then in the rest of the world. Advertising on Google maps is similar to AdWords where advertisers bid on keywords which will apprear when the user searches with them. The difference here is the ads itself which in this case will be an icon with logos and pictures of the advertised business.
There is an issue which will be the verification of the showed images, It's possible to keep an eye on keywords but very difficult to control the image displayed if its copyrighted, have illegal or adult content ... Anyone could advertise and so Google Maps won't be a good place to be ?
I can't wait to give it a try, and wondering if the next step will be Google Earth ?
