Yahoo! Join the Mobile Advertising Market

Yahoo! have launched their Mobile advertising network, a new competitor to Admob and Google (who currently testing silently mobile advertising). We have already mentioned in a previous post of what Yahoo! is capable on mobile market, and it's clear that they are the first big publisher in this new network. The service is already accepting new publishers, but it looks that Yahoo! is more interested to attract big publishers with more than one Million page view per month for launching, but the news is that the registration page mention not only advertising on mobile web page, but also on client applications (eg. Mobile Games), SMS and other, and they are already talking about video advertising on mobile. That's Quick !

Yahoo! For mobile Operators

With opening the service to Mobile operators, Yahoo! is targeting potential actors in the mobile business and this is new for mobile advertising companies :

More than ever, today's mobile subscribers look to their network operator for exciting, innovative digital services to enjoy on their phones. To that end, Yahoo! offers a range of services allowing operators to deliver enhanced consumer experiences and to monetize them. These solutions can be obtained 'off the shelf' or customized uniquely to an operator's needs.

Video Advertising of mobile

Rich advertising experience for mobile, what a great thing ! But I think this will be more tied to mobile operators and "applications" publishers, the same for image advertising on mobile. Many users of internet mobile disable images for less bandwidth consuming, so what for advertising ?! Certainly this won't be a limit in the future, but until that time I do believe that the best advertising support for mobile will be the text format only.

Horizons...

I registered as publisher to test the new mobile advertising platform by Yahoo!, but not sure to be accepted since I didn't hit yet the 1 million page view per month on my mobile sites, but it's coming soon I bet ! I'll be interested to advertise on the network also, even that I'm not a big fan of Yahoo service for mobile, but I just want to see the quality of the network and possibly target new readers. I'm keeping an eye on this.
